The Norfolk Broads Tipi Canoe Trail combines
a Canadian canoe expedition with overnight accommodation in tipi
lodges located in mainly remote and exclusive riverside settings.
This is a unique outdoor adventure experience in the Norfolk
Broads and is specifically designed for families & couples wanting
a blend of adventure, peace and 'getting back to nature'.
Most of our tipis are located in very small
private near riverside clusters. (Typically only 2-3 tipi's per
cluster). Each cluster has its own loo, water supply, store of
firewood, first aid and fire safety equipment. The tipis are
spread well apart to give privacy for all.
Paddle down one of the most beautiful rivers in
the Norfolk Broads in one of our very stable Canadian canoes
before finding your own tipi in a most beautiful and peaceful
spot. We have Large Family Tipis which will comfortably sleep up
to 7/8 or smaller Tipis for Couples and small families.
Sample Itinerary
- 1, 2 and 3 night trails are also available
First evening
arrive at the site, register unload you kit into the tipi
First morning you
will be collected from the site by a CanoeMan guide who will drive
you to the upper stretched of the Bure and give you a safety
briefing, necessary equipment and launch you onto the river over
the rest of the day you will paddle your way along the beautiful,
meandering River Bure back to the tipi. You can then have a
relaxed evening around the fire or a short walk to the local
hostelry which serves fine food and excellent beer.
Second morning
Taking your kit with you in the watertight barrels supplied you
will then take the short walk back to your canoe and continue your
paddle through the beautiful Norfolk countryside to your second
tipi site. This site once again has easy access to a licensed bar
and is within a 5 minute walk of a variety of restaurants,
takeaways and pubs.
Third morning
Once again climb back in your canoe and paddle your way towards
Wroxham, known as the heart of the Broads, here you can pull in
and take a wander around the Broads busiest villages. From here it
is a short paddle to your third tipi site, which is hidden away at
the back of a private broad. This site once again has a short walk
to access The Broad House Hotel and Restaurant (probably one of
the best hotels in the county). Dress code smart casual.
Fourth morning
You can either finish your trial here or you can continue you
journey through the broads with a lot of people opting to finish
their journey and spend their last night in the relative comfort
of The Moorhen, what is probably one of the best bed and breakfast
establishments in Norfolk.
