Snorkelling

Anyone who has been on the classic Norfolk
Broads holiday on a Broads cruiser would probably cringe at the
thought of snorkelling in the green “pea soup” most people
associate with the Broads, but if you know where, you can find
some magical stretches of river where the water is crystal clear
with masses of aquatic life darting to and from.
The upper stretches of many of the rivers in the
broads offer a beauty and tranquillity unlike that found anywhere
else. Above the water the dragonflies dart about like Harry
Potter’s snitch! Whilst below the vast array of fish and other
aquatic life duck and dive about their daily lives.

By joining one of our snorkelling trails you will
get the opportunity to get an insight into the underworld of the
Broads. From the tiny dragonfly larva to the minnow munching pike
– often the wildlife is more surprised to see us than we are to
see them and they will just hang around looking quizzically at the
wetsuit clad invader.
The trails are led by a guide who will point out
the weird and wonderful creatures and help identify them for you.
You will be equipped with a wetsuit, wetsuit boots, mask, goggles
and snorkel (you can bring you own equipment if you wish). Due to
water temperatures (even in the height of summer) trails will last
approximately two hours (which includes set up time, transport and
a hot drink at the end). Groups are general six people although
larger groups can be accommodated. Trail dates available to the
public are listed below, however for groups of six or more,
private trails can be arranged on mutually agreeable dates.
